Created as part of our Grow to Learn campaign, this engaging story introduces children to allotments, gardening, nature and healthy eating in a fun and accessible way.

Join Harry, Charlie and Sophia on their allotment adventure
Harry and Charlie are convinced they don’t like vegetables. Carrots, peas, tomatoes – they would rather avoid them all!

But when their cousin Sophia takes them to Grandad’s allotment, things begin to change.

As they dig, sow, water, explore and harvest , the children discover that vegetables don’t simply appear on a plate. They begin as tiny seeds and grow with a little patience, care and curiosity.

Along the way, they encounter buzzing bees, freshly picked produce and all the sights and sounds of the allotment – and Harry and Charlie start looking at vegetables rather differently.

Growing, learning and having fun

For many of us, a love of growing began with a simple moment – pulling up a carrot, tasting a freshly picked pea or helping to water plants on a sunny day.
Harry, Charlie, and Sophia’s Allotment Adventure encourages children to make that same connection with food and nature.

The story helps introduce young readers to:

• Where fruit and vegetables come from
• The fun of growing your own food
• Healthy eating and trying new foods
• Bees, wildlife and the natural world
• Patience, responsibility and curiosity
• The importance of caring for plants and the environment
• Perfect for children aged 3–7

it is an ideal book for parents, grandparents, teachers and allotment holders who want to inspire the next generation of growers.

It also makes a lovely birthday, Christmas or special occasion gift – or simply a treat for a curious young gardener.

For a short time, you can buy Harry, Charlie, and Sophia’s Allotment Adventure for just £8.50

Offer only available until October 4th 2026.

Inspiring the next generation
